Who we are

We are a Religious Order recognized and confirmed by the Catholic Church since 1528. As friars, we are fruits of Franciscan charism, founded on the deep desire to live the Gospel Way of Life and the ideals set forth by our Seraphic Father and Founder, St. Francis of Assisi. We live in communities, acknowledging each other as ‘brother’ and sharing things in common.
We are honoured and humbled that the current Pope has chosen to take the name of our Father, Francis of Assisi, thereby showing us the need to serve the poor, to work for peace and non-violence and to care for creation, which is our common home.

To cultivate a personal faith-commitment, characterized by individual devotion and sustained by practical application of socio-religious values. We shall seek to do this by; proclaiming, teaching, defending and testifying our faith from a Christian Catholic perspective.
What we do?
Our primary work is to witness the Gospel with our way of life, anchored on Franciscan simplicity. We seek to serve the people of God depending on their needs in their particular location. As a result, we are engaged in pastoral care of people in their spiritual and social needs. We work in all levels of the education sector (from basic to tertiary), in the health sector, agriculture and social welfare of people among other areas.
